It is FDA-approved Balloon designed to help you lose weight and enough to be used for a 6 months, 0r 12 months for weight loss.

The ORBERA® balloon will yield the best result when used in conjunction with diet, exercise and a behavior modification program for adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 27 and above who failed to achieve and maintain weight loss with a supervised weight-control program.

The ORBERA® balloon insertion:

Under sedation the deflated gastric balloon is inserted into your stomach by endoscopy and fill the balloon with a sterile saline solution. The entire procedure takes about 10 to 15 minutes. After roughly two hours of recovery, most patients head home to begin the rest of their new life.  

ORBERA will yield the best result when used in conjunction with diet, exercise, and a behaviour modification program. 

The ORBERA® balloon removal:

The balloon should be removed after 6 months or 12 months under sedation same as insertion. 

Suitable candidate for Gastric balloon:

  • It is usually offered to patients seeking weight loss with a BMI from 27 and above, and for those who need to lose from 10kg and above

  • Male or female ≥14 yrs. of age

How quickly will achieve weight loss goal?

  • Patients typically begin to see weight loss in the first 4 weeks with an earlier feeling of fullness right away.

  • Most patients reported reduced hunger, earlier fullness, or decreased capacity after having the balloon procedure

  • Success of the procedure will rely on patient ability to recognize & respond to their body’s hunger & fullness signals.

  • In addition, it is important and a must to commit to the nutritional plan & exercise program to maintain your weight

Why weight loss with the balloon requires your help?

  • It is important to during the first 4 weeks after your balloon procedure you must stay on liquid and soft foods for 4 weeks

When can I returns to work?

Each person is different from the others and that of course depends on the profession, most patients can return to work after 3 days

NO

Is it safe to get pregnant with the balloon?

NO, it is not recommended, but balloon should be removed on the 4th months of pregnancy’s

Contraindications:

· Patients with conditions: inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract, potential upper gastrointestinal bleeding conditions, a large hiatal hernia

  • ·Patients who are unwilling or unable to participate in an established medically supervised diet and behaviour program

  • ·Patients who have alcohol or drug addictions

  • ·Patients receiving aspirin, anti-inflammatory agents, anticoagulants

  • ·Patients who are known to be pregnant or breastfeeding.

Adverse Events:

Nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain are common for the first few days after the balloon is inserted in the stomach. Medications can help to minimize these side effects.
